How to Sell on TIAS

Your step-by-step guide to reaching collectors who love what you have to offer.

We're Here to Help

We know that selling online can feel like a daunting task — especially when you're dealing with antiques, collectibles, and treasures that deserve the right buyer.

Where do you even start? How do you price things? Will anyone actually find your items? These are questions every seller asks, and we want you to know: you're not alone, and it's easier than you think.

TIAS has been helping dealers and collectors sell their treasures since 1995. Whether you're a seasoned antique dealer or selling your first piece, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

Getting Started

Let's walk through the process together, one step at a time.

1

Create Your Account

Head to our Start Selling page and choose a plan that fits your needs. Don't worry about committing right away — every plan comes with a free 30-day trial.

You'll confirm your billing information, verify your phone number, and provide your address. The whole process takes just a few minutes — and then you're in your seller dashboard, ready to go.

2

Set Up Your Shop

Your shop is your storefront on TIAS — it's where buyers learn about you and browse your inventory. Take a few minutes to make it yours:

  • Shop name: Pick something memorable that reflects what you sell
  • Description: Tell buyers a bit about yourself and your specialties
  • Logo & cover image: Give your shop a professional, welcoming look
  • Location: Let buyers know where you're based
  • Shipping preferences: Set your default shipping method (free, flat rate, or free shipping minimum)
3

List Your First Item

This is the exciting part! From your seller dashboard, click "Add New Item" and you're on your way. Here's what you'll need for each listing:

  • Photos: Clear, well-lit images from multiple angles (more on this in our tips below)
  • Title: A descriptive title that helps buyers find your item
  • Description: Tell the story — condition, history, dimensions, any flaws
  • Price: Your asking price
  • Category: Help buyers find you by choosing the right category
  • Year produced: Items must be at least 20 years old

Want to save time? TIAS offers optional AI-powered cataloging — simply upload your photos and let AI generate your title, description, category, and other details for you. Review the results, make any adjustments, and your listing is ready to go.

4

Ship & Get Paid

When someone buys your item, you'll receive a notification with the order details and shipping address. Package it carefully (antiques deserve extra love), ship it out, and add tracking information in your dashboard.

Your earnings go directly into your Wallet. Once delivery is confirmed and the buyer's 2-day verification window passes, the funds become available to withdraw. Connect your bank account through the Wallet section whenever you're ready to cash out — there's no rush.

Tips & Tricks from Experienced Sellers

After 30 years, we've learned a thing or two about what makes listings successful. Here's the good stuff:

📸 Photos Make the Sale

Natural lighting is your best friend — photograph near a window during the day. Show the item from multiple angles, and don't hide flaws. Buyers appreciate honesty, and close-ups of maker's marks, wear patterns, or damage actually build trust. A solid, neutral background keeps the focus on your piece.

✍️ Write Like You're Talking to a Friend

Forget stiff, formal descriptions. Tell the story of the piece. Where did you find it? What makes it special? What would it look great with? Collectors are often buying the history as much as the object. Be thorough with dimensions, materials, and condition — but let your personality come through.

💰 Price with Research, Not Guesswork

Look at what similar items have sold for (not just what they're listed at). Check completed sales on other platforms, price guides, and auction results. Price fairly and you'll sell faster. If something's been sitting for months, it might be time to adjust.

🏷️ Titles Are Search Terms

Think about what a buyer would type to find your item. Include the maker, era, material, style, and any notable features. "Mid-Century Danish Teak Credenza by Arne Vodder" will get found. "Nice Old Cabinet" won't.

📦 Pack Like It's Going to Your Grandmother

Antiques are irreplaceable. Double-box fragile items, use plenty of padding, and consider insurance for valuable pieces. A well-packed item that arrives safely leads to happy buyers and repeat customers.

💬 Respond Quickly to Questions

When a buyer reaches out, they're interested. A fast, helpful response can be the difference between a sale and a missed opportunity. Even if you don't have an immediate answer, acknowledging their message builds trust.
